Pinterest leads me to all sorts of new and fabulous blogs like rag rug. A blog from Finland with the most unusual and artistic photographs. It is jam packed with inspiration and drool worthy vignettes.

Pretty Pins

I’ve noticed that lately when I pin something on pinterest, it’s usually either feminine and pretty or the total opposite – dark and dramatic. Do you ever go back and look at some of your pins and notice anything about yourself through the images you choose?

All images can be found on my pinboards. Follow me!

Lovely Bokeh

I see the word “bokeh” on Pinterest a lot. Since I’m the curious type, I looked it up on Wikipedia and found out that in photography, bokeh is the blur or the aesthetic quality of the blur, in out-of-focus areas of an image, or “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light.” Now that I know what it is, I realise that I absolutely love the aesthetic of bokeh, which is why my eye was drawn to these images in the first place!

What camera do you use for your blog?

Image from Pinterest

I started this blog in order to collect or curate beautiful interior decor, design, art, photography etc.

It’s time for me to pick up a camera and post my DIYs and a few other goodies for this blog. I’m new to blogging but I took a photography course years ago with the old school cameras and I know Photoshop on a professional level as a Graphic Designer.

My question is for all the bloggers and photographers out there… what camera do you use? Is a digital camera good enough or should I jump right into a DSLR? Can I get a good Canon digital camera, a tripod and then retouch my images to start with?

I would really, really appreciate your comments!

I recently joined Pinterest, a virtual pinboard, to create a mood board for inspiration. There are so many beautiful images and products to discover! I’m finding other blogs that I never would have stumbled upon otherwise. I love Pinterest and I highly recommend that you check it out!

This is the board I created for my “kitchen inspiration”.  I’m going to paint my kitchen very soon and add accessories. When I see an image I like on the internet, I “Pin” it. Now I know what to add to my shopping list, instead of wandering around the store aimlessly. I am on a mission now!

Here is a roundup of some stunning black and white photography that Lauren from ELLEBY DESIGN pinned. Her taste mirrors my own and thanks to Pinterest, I now follow her fabulous blog.

Winter doesn’t have to be cold and dreary. We have so many shades of white in Toronto after a fresh snow fall. When the light hits the snow I see blues, turquoises, purples and pinks among many other shades. Below are some images I curated for you. Remember to look for the beauty in all things.

2012 – time to revamp and organize the apartment!

before and after, budget, DIY, improve, inspired, kitchen makeover, new year, organize, paint, Pinterest

This is a before shot of a kitchen that looks exactly like mine. The cabinets have been painted so many times that they are hard to open and close. The white paint is yellowing with age and the black plastic door handles aren’t really working for me if ya know what I mean. No wonder I don’t like to cook. Ugh, the hideousness. Never mind that the linoleum floor is a sickly grey colour with vomity brown splotches on it and the overhead lamp looks like a huge white globe. How gauche.

Its time for a new look. A makeover. A little organization to make my tiny space more functional.

Here is the after shot of the same kitchen!! Inspired!

Okay so I can’t put this lovely subway tile up as a backsplash but I can apply a fresh coat of paint to brighten up the wall a bit. Don’t you love the cutesy canisters on the countertop? I might have to get me a little something like that!

I will take some photos of the work in progress and some before and after shots as well, for this blog.

Before I start this project, I will create an inspiration board for myself on Pinterest. It’s a great way to gather and organize all the things that inspire me. I also have to make up a check list of things to do and I should keep track of the cashola I spend so I don’t overdo it – its my home, but it is a rental after all!
