My post on not posting

30 Tuesday Jul 2013

I’ve been stuck in a rut for a while when it comes to posting/ideas. And I think I finally figured out why… here’s the deal…

– I was working at a job that I hated. I know it’s bad to say that but every second I was there, the negative energy sucked my spirit away

– I switched jobs and since I am resistant to change, it took me almost 2 months to start to feel like myself again

– It’s difficult to come up with new ideas on a daily basis, so I will post sporadically, when I’m inspired

– Using my own photos. I was insistent on waiting until I could get a DSLR, but maybe the photos don’t have to be professional quite yet. I’ll edit my digital photos – duh, I know Photoshop so I can edit them my way and they don’t have to be perfect – lightbulb!!

– I’d like to continue to inspire by curating the lovely things – instead of being so hard on myself – sometimes I’ll just post one or two lovely photos instead of ten

Now for the fun! Here are some lovely summer pics – enjoy each day!

It’s that easy

Sometimes it’s as simple as enjoying a cup of cocoa with a loved one. Don’t forget to add a festive cookie to the side of the cup for that extra special touch during the holiday season! Yes kids, it’s that easy!

Autumn is upon us

Autumn. The humidity is already gone and the lazy, hazy days of summer are becoming cooler and fresher. There is a crispness to the air. I’m looking forward to watching nature change it’s colours. To drinking a cup of warm cocoa and snuggling under a cozy blanket. Boots and comfy socks. Luxe sweaters and scarves. Stew made with root vegetables – one of my favourites! Fresh apples from the farm.

Learn how to make this mushroom garland in Sweet Paul’s autumn issue.

Nothing beats buying apples from your local market. So sweet and juicy at  this time of year!

I just have to try this lavender hot chocolate recipe by à la mode.

Cozy blankets. Perfect for curling up with a good book.

It’s shockingly hot outside

canadian money, heat wave, Toronto

Our new Canadian 50 and 100 dollar bills are made of polymer instead of paper and are deemed to be “indestructible”.

I think Toronto broke a record today. Apparently it may have been the hottest July day on record. In fact, it is so hot that The Toronto Star reported this week, some Canadians have been shocked to discover that their so-called indestructible new bills are being damage by heat. Cases of the 50’s and 100’s being “fried” in hot cars, on top of toaster ovens and close to heaters have all been reported. The polymer bills have been shrivelling up like a piece of cooked bacon.

Awesome. That kind of justifies the heat for me. I don’t feel guilty anymore for whining and complaining about the intense temperatures. That the grass is too yellow and sounds like potato chips when I walk on it. Hey, our money is melting.

Are you experiencing high temperatures and humidity? What do you do to stay cool?
