Today I’m curating a great blog for those of you of who like fashion, but don’t want to break the bank.

Meet Lindsay Turner. Esthetician, Professional Makeup Artist and self-proclaimed thrift shopping addict. I’ve been following her blog for a while and she never ceases to amaze me with the unbelievable outfits she puts together for less than what some pay for a pair of shoes!

Lindsay’s blog Thrift and Shout is jam-packed with thrift tips, inspirational outfits and a house tour complete with more bargain finds!

To give you an example of how thrifty Lindsay is, here is the cost breakdown of the two outfits shown above (in US dollars):

Audrey Hepburn, beach, fashion, summer, trend

I’ve recently observed that women at the beach are wearing huge floppy hats à la Audrey Hepburn. Could this be a new style trend?

Audrey

very chic straw hat with edgy ink on her arms!

love this combination on the cherry blossom girl
big hat with huge glasses – right on trend!

stripes are always a classic

bright & bold

ultra-glam and very Audrey!

Are you rocking the big floppy hat this summer?

Keep cool

I sincerely hope this is the last day of the horrible heat wave we’ve had in T.O. The temperatures have been around 35 degrees Celcius, with a high humidex (making it feel like 40 degrees). Yikes!

That being said, summer is the time to create memories with friends and family. These DIY popsicle invitations via Martha Stewart are the perfect invite for a birthday party or backyard BBQ! Click here for the clip art and how-to!

I would love to have a huge lofty living room with white walls so I could switch up my decor for summer. I would hang this brightly-hued acrylic painting by artist Nina Nolte.

This season the accessories are big, bold and bright! If I can’t keep cool, at least I can look it!

I really, really want a pink lounge chair and umbrella for the beach. Welcome summer!

This is one of the best craft projects I have seen. Not only is it budget-friendly but it is so chic!

You can get this look by using a few crafty tools and some bits and bobs from your local bead/craft store. Total supplies, if you include buying the tools, should run you less than $30. All the instructions are posted here on Nicole’s amazing blog Making it Lovely.

Gorgeous! All images via Making it Lovely.

A girl’s camera should match her shoes.

The Diana F mini gold Camera. Just look at this camera! It is the epitome of stye and apparently it takes good photos. Oddly enough this looks like my Dad’s old camera – you know with the big huge flash on them? Very retro!!! I’m loving it!

Alix, The Cherry Blossom Girl’s camera has a jazzy chain on it…

… and her shoes even match! I think this could be a new trend. Maybe a girl’s camera should match her shoes. I mean, why not right?

So jealous!!!

11horses by Per Zennström is an online magazine that has some of the best editorial fashion shots I have ever seen – and I read a gazillion fashion mags. The art direction, the clothes, the props, location, the models and poses and the photography – oh my – too fabulous for words! It’s pure eye candy. It’s editorial fashion at its best! All the gorgeousness can be found here.

Fashion trend, mixing prints

I thought colour blocking was going to confuse even the most experienced fashionista but to mix match colour, animal, flower and psychedelic 70s prints? I just know some people are not going to put these outfits together well!

Here are some gorgeous editorials doing just that, featuring (one of the trendiest models of the moment) Charlotte Free on a blog I just discovered called Trendland. It is the go to site for all things trendy from art to culture to interior design and so much more.

Don’t you love it when fashion meets photography? When the clothes, the location, the model, the lighting, the colours, the styling, the makeup and props all work together to create the perfect combination of fashion and photography!

Both horse and model have an intense gaze and a beautiful chestnut mane.
It’s as if they are one.
