Random Inspiration

Random inspiration. Imagine super imposing a nature painting on your photo.Butterflies are often so vibrant with colour. This photo allows us to notice the gentle fragility of their wings. So lovely.
The view from below the trees. A photographer’s perspective shot becomes a powerful reminder of nature’s architecture.

Standard wire hangers lovingly covered in vintage paper. It’s the details that count.

Tattoo inspired artwork? Shapes and patterns merge to create art.The wall adds whimsy to this old school washroom. Love the patina on the mirror and chair.

Unless you’ve been hibernating during the summer months, you’ve probably noticed the colour explosion that has hit the runway, interior decorating, food styling and summer fabrics. Bright hues are everywhere and it is about time! I kind of like these bold, in your face colours as they are reminiscent of the 80s! From bold corals to pastel palettes and neon flourishes, colour is HOT this summer!

From the top: 1. Pretty pastel chairs 2. Neon brights 3. Colourful summer veggies 4. Brilliant bunting

From the top: 1. Dapper orange boutonniere 2. Pops of colour 3. Fun at the beach 4. Summer flowers 5. Popsicles

Alegria collection, arts, cloud 9 fabric, craft, Etsy, fabric collection, fashion, freelance illustrator, Geninne D. Zlatkis, illustration, painted egg, sewing, style, vibrant colours, watercolours

I am currently loving Geninne’s Art Blog. Geninne is a freelance illustrator and designer whose blog is so full of vibrant colours and inspiration galore!

Wooden egg painted with blue acrylic inks and rubbed with a spoon oil. Beautiful tie-dyed top in a warm chocolate brown! Shopping alert: you can buy one of these stunning pillows designed by Geninne here.

I could move into this bedroom in a split second. Gennine made her own pillowcases as soon as her fabric collection called Alegria arrived at her home. She designed the pattern herself. Then she over-dyed the fabric to match her green quilt from CB2. What a perfectionist – just look at the colour match. I’m in awe of her talent – not only as an artist, but she dyes fabrics and sews too! Her fabric collection is sold at Cloud 9 Fabrics.

She also uses thread as a medium, on t-shirts.

Freshly painted rocks to keep papers from flying away in her studio. Stunning detail.

Are you loving her illustrations as much as I am?
The good news is, you can buy her work from her etsy shop.
All images from Geninne’s Art Blog.

I get so overexcited at this time of year – Spring! I feel like it is finally here. The grass is getting greener and local florists are displaying tulips and gorgeous pastel bouquets. Spring is a time for rejuvenation!

I’m a Graphic Designer and when I’m stumped for which colours to use on a new concept, my go-to website is Design Seeds.

Jessica, the master mind behind the palettes began journaling colour in art school, in a sketchbook with pantone chips and labels. Design Seeds is the modern, digital version of her colour combinations.

It is a very valuable tool if you are decorating a room, planning your wedding, choosing a colour scheme for your next design project, or even planning your next outfit. See for yourself!

Winter doesn’t have to be cold and dreary. We have so many shades of white in Toronto after a fresh snow fall. When the light hits the snow I see blues, turquoises, purples and pinks among many other shades. Below are some images I curated for you. Remember to look for the beauty in all things.
