I taught a night course in typography years ago and I always wondered if it was a dying art. I am happy to let you know that it is back in full force and better than ever. Today I’m curating some of my favourites for you….

Girl Crush

I have a girl crush on the life of dottie angel. Her real name is Tif Fussell and she lives in suburban Seattle. Tif is originally from Britain, is a wife and the mother of four kids “who talk back”. She wears a customized slip and dreams of living her alter-ego Dottie Angel’s life… in a run down cottage over looking the sea, with two airstream trailers in the yard, one works as her studio and the other stores her vast collection of vintage bits and bobs…

Tif, a.k.a. dottie angel, is a crafting genius. Her charming home, also known as “mossy shed”, is full of crocheted doilies, floral fabrics, pattern, paper lanterns, bunting and vintage vignettes. The epitome of granny chic.

This is one of the best craft projects I have seen. Not only is it budget-friendly but it is so chic!

You can get this look by using a few crafty tools and some bits and bobs from your local bead/craft store. Total supplies, if you include buying the tools, should run you less than $30. All the instructions are posted here on Nicole’s amazing blog Making it Lovely.

Gorgeous! All images via Making it Lovely.

A converted barn to call home

Garden, Going Home to Rost, handmade, home decor, Quilts, vintage

Welcome to Bonnie’s vine covered cottage in sunny California. It’s an old converted barn complete with a hay loft where her guests sleep!

I love her charming front door and the light filled living space!

The use of bright colour and pattern is consistent throughout the house. Knick knacks and vintage finds fill niches in all the right places. Handmade quilts and art make this house a home.

This backyard patio is just lovely. I could sit here for hours on end.

Visit Bonnie’s blog Going Home to Roost for
everything handmade and anything homegrown.

I stumbled across the photography of Natalie Shau while browsing through 500px. Natalie Shau combines photography, digital technology and 3D-modeling, creating strange, mystical and sometimes frightening images.

After watching the totally amazing season finale of Once Upon a Time last night, I feel like sharing these magical, surrealistic photos with you. Each one is a fairy tale…

When I first started this blog, it was my intention to share photos of interior decor. As the blog evolved I discovered that I have many different passions but they all stem from one thing – excellent photography.

So, I hope to share some diverse photos in the future, some recipes, a bit of fashion, a lot of luxe and some DIY projects. I will get a camera and share some of my own photos and stories to personalize this blog. I feel like I am growing and changing everyday and I hope you will continue to visit for some inspiration, a few words of wisdom or to view some whimsical images.

Create your own designs on inexpensive cork coasters. I think this is a DIY great idea and I can’t believe I haven’t done this yet. What a great way to add some flair to an outdoor party. Write a personal message for that special someone on them. Give them as a gift with a set of nice glasses and some drink recipes. The possibilities are endless.

All images are from fellow fellow. To see the step-by-step instructions click here.

Scandinavian style

I love many different interior decor styles – modern glam being my favourite. Still they say “less is more” and I can’t help but feel that way about Scandinavian design. Highly functional, the style is effective without needing heavy elements. The colour palette often starts with white due to the long winters and few hours of sunlight. The design aesthetic is bright and uncluttered with natural wood flooring and furniture and black accessories.

This home with industrial touches belongs to Jakob Nylund. His home reflects modern Scandinavian style – it prioritizes functionality without sacrificing elegance and simplicity. The sight lines are amazing. Jakob is also a very talented photographer.

I’ve noticed that lately when I pin something on pinterest, it’s usually either feminine and pretty or the total opposite – dark and dramatic. Do you ever go back and look at some of your pins and notice anything about yourself through the images you choose?

All images can be found on my pinboards. Follow me!
