I’m in awe of people who are constantly making pretty crafty things. I like to do crafty things but I’m also very lazy when it comes to buying all the supplies and gathering little fussy bits and baubles to create something. I also hate getting glue on my hands.
This clever idea on the sweet paul blog changed my attitude. Everyone has an old, unwanted sweater stuffed in a drawer somewhere. Even if you don’t, thrift shops sell them for next to nothing. Take a vase, cut the sleeve off the sweater, place the vase in the arm and cut off about 2 ” from the bottom. Fold that 2″ in and voila, you have a very stylish winter vase. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this would make a thoughtful gift for your mom or a close friend… don’t forget the flowers!

Awesome idea!
I used to run a lady’s boutique and one of the designer’s we bought from would buy sweaters from thrift shops, cut the sleeves off, trim them with a little ribbon and sell them for $140 plus!
I bought a bunch of disposable gloves to use in the frame shop when someone orders a custom carved frame! I hate glue on my hands too. 🙂
Wow – people bought them at $140? I can’t believe it. I could make a vase like this one for under $10. No sewing and no glue!
Thanks for the feedback!
They were sweaters not vases but I run a furniture store once and it was crazy what some people would pay for stuff.
